“It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen.”
– Muhammad Ali, boxing legend and heavyweight world champ
From pugilists to pop stars, philosophers to freedom fighters, affirmations have helped many amazing people build the self-belief and resilience required to succeed in life. #IITSAffirmations is a programme designed by Industry In The Streets (IITS) to help young people unlock the power of affirmations and to discover their true potential through a range of fun, creative and reflective activities.
The 1hr workshop is a multi-layered programme that explores the following:
- Team building
- Critical-thinking skills
- Reflective practice
- Speaking & Listening
- Reading & Writing for Meaning
The extended #IITSAffirmations programme encompasses the following:
- Art & Design
- Music production
- Performance skills
- Film making and editing
Developed over a number of years, in various classroom environments, #IITSAffirmations has been successfully delivered to hundreds of young people across London. The affirmations, group discussions and reflective writing exercises, have helped many students to adopt a more reflective approach to the challenges they face in everyday life and has often led to learners seeking the additional support they need to succeed.
The memes, inspired by the sessions, are shared across the globe via social networks (type #IITSAffirmations on Twitter) and stand as a lasting testament to the infectious nature of positive thinking and its ability to empower others, long after the session has ended.
As the project grows, we intend to take #IITSAffirmations into more schools, colleges, universities and youth centres. With our ever-expanding portfolio of services #IITSAffirmations will continue to provide young people with the tools to believe, achieve and to inspire others.
